We're a tight collective so ongoing [[Community Rhythms | communication and feedback are essential requirements]]. Although initial interviews and language tests can give us a good idea of new applicants' suitability for the team, neither the applicant, nor the established members of the collective will be able to determine whether both parts are successfully compatible until there's been a "burn in" period.
Closely tied to our [[Guerrilla Translation Commitment Statement | Commitment Statement]] and [[Community Rhythms]] this entry summarizes the ongoing commitments we all undertake as Guerrilla Translators. It is applicable to full members who've previously completed the [[Dating Phase for Transition Translators]]. It also lists the [[#Basic Guerrilla Translator Skills | basic skills]] expected from all full/committed team members.


Joining the collective entails going through a nine-month training and trust building period know as the "Dating Phase". New members should also read [[The Guerrilla Translation Handbook]] for an introductory overview to the collective's practices.

In your first three months of working with the collective, we recommend that you take on a few pro-bono translation, editing or formatting tasks, as explained in [[The Tao of the Guerrilla Translator]]. Feel free to ask any questions during this process and we'll be on hand to answer and guide you through. We also recommend that you pay attention to our discussions in [[Loomio]] dealing with the ongoing development of the collective.

By the end of these 3 months (not counting [[Yearly work calendar | holidays in-between]]) we expect you to have earned at least 400 [[Glossary#Love Credits | Love Credits]]. These can be any combination of translation, editing, formatting, subtitling or pro-bono productive work. We've figured that 400 credits amounts to two days of full work, which, spread over a three month period, shouldn't be beyond anyone's capacity. If you do more than the basic minimum that will, of course, also be taken into account and valued highly.
Our daily, biweekly and monthly rhythms keep us accountable to each other while creating a space to gently remind and support any member if things get left behind. These rhythms give us the necessary information to evaluate how well we are caring for the [[What_is_Care_Work%3F#Caring_for_the_health_of_the_collective | health of the collective]] and  [[What_is_Care_Work%3F#Caring_for_the_health_of_the_members_of_the_collective | its members]].


Additionally, we also expect you to have met the basic responsibilities we all undertake within the collective (listed below). We'll also value whether you've joined at least one [[xxxxx | Working Circle]] and contributed to a number of organizational tasks
Our [[Community Rhythms#Quarterly Evaluation | Quarterly Evaluations]] take this a step further: this is the time to review our commitments and contributions more procedurally and decide whether to make adjustments or not. Each member is asked to self-evaluate their contribution to the collective, check that we're all happy to be working together, and generally see how the relationship is going.

If things haven't worked out, that's fine too, shit happens. If we both feel the relationship is not what we hoped for, we will then "split amicably". All credits earned up to this point will be paid to you in accordance with our income redistribution plan until we're in the clear.

* Feeling enabled and supported in communicating any confusion, critique or disagreement with your GT Buddy, your Mutual Support Pal or anyone in the collective.
* Feeling integrated within the collective through meaningful relations.


If we feel you're the greatest thing since pizza and cat-memes, but you want to go seek other opportunities, we will be sad to see you go, but your happiness with the collective is paramount and we will wish you the best in your new endeavours.
Not mentioned explicitly here is the fact that we also foresee notable improvements in the quality of your productive work as a result of working with our P2P/Commons methods.Yay!


If you feel that we should keep working together, but we think that the relationship hasn't met the requirements we ask for here, we can make a deal. We will listen to each other's feedback and consult again in a month's time. If we still don't agree, we'll have to say goodbye. Sorry!
